With its improved labour safety and product properties, the DBE (Dibasic Easters) product is a good alternative to many conventional solvents, which may often be toxic or carcingenic. The toxicological safety of DBE has been conclusively demonstrated by extensive research. The product therefore does not need to be classified as hazardous. 

Chemically, this solvent alternative consists of the dimethyl esters of adipic, glutaric and succinic acids, which also occur in nature. This accounts for the formulation's good biological and ecological compatibility. Thanks to the high dissolving power of DBE, the amount of product needed is often markedly less than with conventional solvents. Where a solvent cannot be substituted altogether, it is often possible to minimize hazard potenticals and facilitate handling by mixing it with DBE.
