2. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION


2.1 Health Effects - Acute

Swallowed

Poisonous if swallowed. May cause death.

Eye

Irritation. Prolonged contact may damage the eyes. No permanent damage is expected if treated immediately.

Skin

Irritation especially if moisture or perspiration is present. May cause ulceration from prolonged or repeated contact.

Inhaled

Not expected to be a route of exposure, however may cause irritation and/or death.

2.2 Health Effects - Chronic

This material is not considered to be a carcinogen or mutagen. No reproductive effects have been identified.

2.3 First Aid

Swallowed

If conscious, immediately induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention. Do not hesitate to hospitalise.

Eye

Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention.

Skin

Immediately flush skin with plenty of water and soap. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists after washing.

Inhaled

Remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Obtain medical attention.

First Aid Facilities

Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE


3.1 Exposure Standards

3.2 Engineering Controls

Provide local mechanical exhaust ventilation capable of maintaining dust levels below standards.

3.3 Personal Protection

Respiratory - is use conditions generate dusts, wear an approved respirator appropriate for those emission levels. Appropriate respirators may be a full face-piece or a half mask air-purifying cartridge respirator with particulate filters, a self-contained breathing apparatus in the pressure demand mode or a supplied-air respirator Hands/Skin - wear rubber gloves. Wear long-sleeved shirt, trousers, safety shoes and rubber apron. Eyes - wear chemical goggles unless a full face-piece respirator is also worn.

4.1 Storage / Transport

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials. Keep bags dry at all times. DO NOT store near food or feed products. Store in accordance with all Dangerous Goods regulations applicable to Class 6.1 products. Avoid acids, cyanides and active metals such as aluminium or magnesium.

4.3 Spills and Disposal

Spills

Remove all unnecessary personnel from spill area.

Disposal

Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility. Empty containers can have residues, gases and mists and are subject to proper waste disposal as above.

4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire / Explosion

Will not burn or explode. May liberate hydrogen gas from contact with some metals. May also liberate hydrogen fluoride or silicon tetrafluoride. Avoid contact with acids, cyanides and active metals such as aluminium or magnesium. In the presence of water, contact with some metals produces hydrogen which may form flammable mixtures with air.

Extinguishing Media

Evacuate area - move upwind of fire. Summon Fire Brigade immediately, dial 000. DO NOT use water on material itself. Use media/equipment appropriate to surrounding fire conditions (dry chemical, carbon dioxide, dry sand). Fire fighters should wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and full impermeable protective clothing.
